The Cubs and Scouts got together for a winter sleepover weekend at Cold Lake Elementary school with a NERF theme. We played some games including Jeopardy, the Canadian Scout Edition and Camouflage. We had Georgena Graham and Peyton Cabana from Ringkona Reg'd Siberian Huskies come by to show us their dog sled and dogs. Saturday night culminated in a huge NERF battle in the gym. It was a pretty active weekend which was good considering it was VERY cold outside. Thanks to all the leaders to helped out with the weekend!
During the first meeting of the new year, we had elections to determine the new PLs and APLs, and then gave the patrols a chance to test their new leadership skills during a pioneering challenge. They built bridges using poles and twine and crossed the "river" then tested the strength by seeing if they would hold the weight of each member of the patrol plus their patrol advisor.
At our regular meeting the Scouts built sleds out of cardboard and duct tape and raced them down the hill behind the school.
We were also fortunate to have our of our Scouts present some literary work that was published in "The River's Song - Anthology of Creative Writing - Young Writers of Canada"
Great work Cameron!
